State of the Scribe: January 2025

Happy new year everyone!
I’ve got an exciting year in store, here’s hoping yours is awesome too.
Let’s get right in with something many are probably waiting on: the Words of Power print. Anyone who supported that campaign will know that I hoped to deliver the book last month, but delays with cover art unfortunately made that goal impossible.
As an update for everyone waiting, the cover was finished, the proof ordered, and the printer says I should get my hands on it on January 7th. Expect an update from me on that date with the quality of the proof. But if all goes well, I’ll place the full publication order on the following Friday.
That means everyone who would like to make an order (or change your delivery address) should make sure to update that information on the Indiegogo by January 9th. If you want a copy of Words of Power, but didn’t order yet, now’s your chance!
When the final order is placed there can be no changes made to the quantity. I order some extras to cover books lost in shipping or damaged by the courier, but when they run out, that’s it. If you want a copy, order before January 9th here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/words-of-power-hardcover-print/x/20354232#/.
Moving right along, a few stories will be complete this month, while a new one has joined us.
Family of Chaos has just completed, or it will at the end of this month. This story showing a brief look into what things might be like for a sister of Discord, rediscovering her powers as Discord himself was reawakened. As with other stories, it will have to wait for a cover before it can make its way to fimfiction. I will update as soon as that happens.
Next, we have Playing Koi, a story I wrote last year to stay sane during my 3-week coast-to-coast drive of the US. A story about tiny little fish mermaids imprisoned in a magical aquarium, where time moves quickly and generations pass in minutes. A story about finding an old friend before it’s too late. https://www.patreon.com/collection/655220?view=expanded
This story currently lives just on my Patreon, though I do hope one day to make it an ebook. For now, the complete story is available there for those interested in a story about transformation, underwater technology, and other lord of the flies adventures.
We also have one new story entering the mix: Celebi Like Them. In case this story seems familiar, it’s because it’s the third in the series of pokemon tf I did. First focused on Mew, then Victini, and now Celebi. It’s not a direct sequel and requires no knowledge of the previous two, though if you’re interested you will probably enjoy Mew Like Me and Myths Like Us as well. This story will be trapped on my Patreon, since it’s not pony related and can’t ever appear here on fimfiction.
Last month we also saw the addition of a new story: Quarantine. This is a voter driven story about a pony transformation disease that begins to spread across the US. The outcome of each chapter is the product of reader feedback, so vote each chapter to shape what direction the story moves! https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/1057843/new-story-quarantine
That does it for the news this month. Hopefully next month I can announce that all books will be delivered (though based on printing times, I don’t anticipate that will happen before the next state of the scribe). I’m also hoping to publish my own non-pony fiction in a more professional context, and maybe even get some audio versions of some stories so they can be a little more accessible.
Thanks so much to all who continue to support me, and enable me to keep writing pony. I’m incredibly grateful for your help, and your continued readership. May you have an amazing new year!

But in the meantime, here’s the info on all the ongoing stories:
First, Ravana’s Shadow. This story is the sequel to Forerunner’s Child, a story about a remote human colony in the distant future (the same future as in Message in a Bottle, though this is non-pony). The colony, as it turns out, is run by children, without a single adult in their population. How and why did this happen? What’s really going on? Follow Kit, an astronaut from ancient Earth, as she tracks down those mysteries, and ultimately becomes a part of the Mara colony.
This story is the sequel to that one, and I can’t say much about it that wouldn’t spoil the first one. Check the first chapter of Forerunner’s Child here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/92942140
Playing Koi is among the silliest projects I’ve ever written. It explores a magical fish aquarium at a local mall, where the residents are all fish-sized merpeople. Our heroine ventures into the aquarium to track down her missing girlfriend, only to discover a strange world of time dilation, homicidal cannibals, and maybe kinda-sorta jumpstart an underwater industrial revolution? https://www.patreon.com/collection/655220?view=expanded
Finally, the newest weekly story, Another Day at Unity. This story explores the same setting from Spirits of Change, a Pokémon world inspired by His Dark Materials. In this world, every human is born with their soul outside their body, in the form of a Pokémon. These Pokémon decide your lot in life, and work together with their human to advance each others’ goals. After the events of Spirits of Change, a school is built with the intent of educating new legendary and mythical children, as their powers make them exceptionally dangerous. This story is an anthology, beginning and occasionally visiting this school, while showing off some more interesting aspects of that world. https://www.patreon.com/collection/850471?view=expanded
Legio IX Hispania, our historical journey into the question of what if the lost Roman legion ended up in Equestria, unravels here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-legio-78027950
New Way Home is the story of when accidental human arrivals to Equestria are discovered by some very unfriendly creatures, and they’re forced to fight for survival: https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-rescue-94115163
Family of Chaos follows a mysterious mare named Hurricane. She’s lived lifetimes in Equestria, watching seasons come and go. It’s only when Discord breaks free of containment that she begins to discover the truth, and her life is turned to chaos: https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-family-94115055
Accidental Sunshine: What happens when a young changeling accidentally discovers the existence of Ponies, and is forced to take on the identity of one to keep herself hidden? Friendship waits for her, if she’s willing and able to take it. https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-105351764
