New Story: Quarantine

A strange disease whips across the world, its effects supernatural, irreversible, and dangerous. Where once there were human beings, soon there may be something else. Follow the plague through one of its first victims, as we see the emergence of a new intelligent species, the struggle of old authority, and… whatever else people vote to happen.

A few years ago, when I should’ve been doing homework, I wrote a story called Voyage of the Equinox, with a plot driven by reader votes. I’m returning to that tradition with this story now–which means this story will depend on your votes to decide what happens! Not only that, but the fact I can’t write in advance means those comments will have a greater chance of influencing future chapters as well.

This story isn’t GMed by a board game, like Voyage was. I’m writing it more conventionally, with a setting and characters and some idea about their motivations. But how the protagonist responds could still have a huge impact.

Also the fact it’s written in real time means I can’t edit the story quite to my usual standard, so expect a minor typo or two to slip through. My goal is to update three times each month, or slower if the chapters end up longer.
