Catlin took in the battlefield before her as she had done a thousand times before. She had fought odds like this during her years of endless service to the Golden Lords, and survived. That vast bubble protected a castle packed with the alien ponies, maybe even a majority of the city's population. Many of the walkways and towers were standing room only, with terrified creatures looking down from high above. The infested overflowed from every corner—they smacked into it from the air, they filled a river that…-

Felicity wasn't in any particular hurry to make it to the entrance. It wasn't just that they swam through a graveyard of the creatures she had killed to defend herself, though their alien corpses certainly didn't help anything. It wasn’t even the cold and the ice. There was something else on the surface, something clear and strange that didn't quite mix with the ocean.Water, she realized. I'm looking at actual water. There wasn't much of it—anything that separated would freeze almost instantly at these…-

The next few hours passed in a blur for Firefly. In many ways, visiting here was a luxury unlike anything she had experienced before. How many ponies would get a chance to visit the royal palace? Of those, how many thought they would spend their lives as fugitives in Equestria, ready to be executed the instant that Celestia discovered them?A lifetime she spent in fear, a lifetime for nothing. Princess Celestia was a harsh ruler, one who probably would have killed them if she thought they were a danger to…-

Lilac stared up at these two furious ponies. Here was Amaranth, looming over her with an armed pony, weapon ready. What did he expect to happen, that he thought he needed weapons?"I don't know what happened to her," she repeated. It was the same lie she'd already told. But now that she fully understood her own powers, it was far less true. Though it was still close enough that she could probably fool a lie detector. She didn't know the exact effect. "I'm an earth pony, Lord Vale. I couldn't use dark magic…

The spell was, in fact, still going.Lotus felt it, though she couldn't exactly describe what she was feeling, or how. The spell wasn’t drawing power from her anymore, the same way it took active concentration to hold something up in the air. That wasn't a good thing—a spell that she wasn't actively casting was a spell that she had no way to stop."It shouldn't be!" She stood up, stumbling away from his camera. The little toy woodpecker toppled off the side, clattering against the floor. Lotus recoiled,…-

Shiloh rolled to one side, staring up at the little camera lens. Behind it, a little red light flashed every few seconds, indicating that it was still recording. She acted reflexively, bringing her legs together, covering herself with a paw. This was worse than just being around other Pokémon—they were naked too, they didn't think anything of it. But this video could be seen by anyone. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't announce who I was for everyone to see. Shiloh sat up, her ears…-

Ranked against Rainbow Dash’s favorite mornings, she probably would’ve named today as a below-average 3/10.It wasn’t just that she’d woken with the cloud-bed of her cloud-house suddenly puffing away beneath her. Then her body was sent tumbling down towards Lake Ponyville, which wasn’t great either. Nevermind that she was up altogether earlier than she would’ve liked, no matter the circumstances.Falling from great height was nothing strange for Rainbow, and it wouldn’t have ordinarily pushed…-

Doing as they said involved an awful lot of waiting around. It took almost another hour, with only minor interruption. Marie kept herself tucked away in a corner, where she wouldn’t have to be in front of her friends all the time. Sure, none of them had reacted with disgust and anger towards her yet, but it was really only a matter of time.I was supposed to be back to normal before we got back. No one was supposed to see this. If Mum sees, she’ll never be able to forget it. Even if I learn what Ocellus…-

Catlin carried the half-broken frame back aboard her orbiter, as once she had been carried by her own mechanical body, while confined to the blindness of a Zariman suit. She instructed Ordis to find a safe landing site as close to the city as he could, then changed into something more fitting. She considered and rejected an entire suite of different Warframes. All were powerful warriors, but the time for battle in Equestria was over. For the ponies' sake, she could only hope Twilight's spell had removed the…

Winter came to Ponyville exactly as scheduled, with regular snowfalls and cheerful decorations and lots of adorable winter clothes. Everwake might be coiling its medical grip around his hooves one at a time, but in the meantime it meant that he could go out into town with Rose almost whenever he wanted. Among other things, Tracy used his credit with the flight school to schedule a week of no-crash lessons. If he was willing to take the lessons during the day, they even volunteered to send an instructor to…-
