State of the Scribe: May 2022

Another month has come and gone, and here we are with another calendar. Can’t help but notice I’m running out of empty days in the week here. I’ll be brief this time, since there aren’t as many changes as we sometimes see.
Got two stories ending this month: Frames of War, and Return to Sender. On Patreon, anyway. Frames of War is still waiting for a cover to come to Fimfiction, and Return to Sender will be going for several months to come on fimfic.
Return to Sender marks the end of the longest-running monthly story I’ve ever done. I’d like to offer my tremendous thanks to Lithl for remaining patient through this entire process. Literal years have been spent getting this story out there, and it’s finally complete.
Frames of War is also reaching its end, though this one was a far shorter-term story. Even so, I’d like to offer my thanks to Sparktail as well, for being a patron as long as he has. I don’t know what my writing future holds, but I’m incredibly grateful for your help making it this far.
Tall Tale of Sweet Sauce is also probably close to its end. That one has been going almost as long as those others, and has been its own tremendous challenge to write faithfully. Comedy and slice of life aren’t my genres, but I did my best with this story. Just like I try to do my best with all of them. You’ll notice that it changes to green halfway through the month, that’s because it has a cover already and will be getting posted on the 19th!
Those pones interested in slice of life and fluffy comedy will probably enjoy this story when it comes, assuming you haven’t been reading it already.
All the other stories keep chugging on–Myths Like Us, the sequel to Mew Like Me, is running on my Patreon, free for everyone to read. It’s not pony-related, can’t be on fimfic, genfic doesn’t exist, you know the drill.
Don’t Bug Me and Sisters of Willowbrook both continue apace. Feels like Sisters is escalating towards its conclusion, but Don’t Bug Me still has most of the runway out in front.
Lastly and not leastly, we have a minific. Another slice of life story, this time about Rainbow + Twilight + a game of chess. Where does this lead? You’ll find out before the month ends.
Still waiting on the finishing touches on the FiO Anthology cover. If that gets done this month, expect another blog post about the start of that project. As with all of these projects, they depend on factors outside my control, so I can’t promise an actual date.
As usual, tremendous thanks to everyone who supports me. I never imagined I would be able to write fanfic this long. Things may be changing over the next few months–I’m still pushing to publish my own original novels. I’m publishing my own books this year, there’s no way around it.
Thanks for keeping me afloat until then, pones.
I have an active Discord community with tons of other writers. If you want a place to be motivated, or ask questions and chat about stories, or just watch bad movies with us at random times, this is the place: https://discord.gg/DMDrCrG
Lastly, I’ve included the descriptions and links to the current crop of ongoing monthly stories. They will make their way to fimfiction for all readers once complete, but in the meantime you could read the first chapter on my Patreon:
Dreamlands: The story of a batpony who ventures into the dreamlands to try and rescue Nightmare Moon from banishment and save her outcast tribe. Read at: https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-45878879
Frames of War: A Warframe crossover in which an old-war relic is opened on Equestria, unleashing the Infestation. Their only hope may lie in the hooves of a single Tenno. Read at: https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-frames-35421681
Tall Tale of Sweet Sauce: A comedy about an ancient Equestrian “villain” returning from his banishment to earth as a little colt. Adoption may get in the way of his mysterious scheme. Read at: https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-tall-46197856
Diplomatic Solution: Equestria is uplifted into a spacefaring society, not to be received into a perfect utopia, but as the last best hope against a conquering force of magical aliens, who are sweeping across the galaxy. Ponykind doesn’t know much about war, but it does know how to make friends. Maybe there’s a way to solve things that doesn’t need weapons. https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-30394496
